I was riding home in a friend’s car, I zoned out and zoomed into a radio program on 93.9 fm ‘The Moth” in NYC. The whole segment was people telling inspirational stories, that no matter how tough we think we are, would move our very soul. Please click—> here and listen to listen Darryl ‘Run DMC’ McDaniels tells an amazing story of adoption, how he over came depression, sarah mclachlan’s song Angel and how everything happens for a reason. Please be patient because it takes 1 minute and 31 seconds for him to start.
Rejection.
If anyone ever say they have never gotten or felt rejected would be lying. At some point or another we have experienced rejection in some shape or form. Pastor Larry Purnell, my Facebook friend wrote a very interesting post about overcoming rejection, that I’m sharing with you guys below.
Overcoming Rejection!! Part 1
Rejection is one of those horrible byproducts that come along with dealing with people. Sometimes, it’s inevitable not to feel rejected some time or another. Some people do not possess “thick skin” to be able to completely ward off the effects of rejection. Some people suffer more intense levels of rejection for longer periods in their life than other people. After all, we are human…right? The most frequent motive for rejection is feelings of inadequacy and a fear of failure from people. The emotions that are tied to being “dropped” can be devastating to the heart and to the ego.
Rejection can reward you with isolation and loneliness. I always say, that loneliness creates an environment of self discovery. While some people dread at the thought of isolation and loneliness, others delight at the thought. This is where you are striving. You must affirm and believe that you are able to take care of your own needs well, and be content with YOURSELF! You don’t need the presence of others, to strive for the mastery of happiness. Sometimes, God allows the pushing away of people, to assure you that HE is all that you will ever need to be happy. God does allow rejection sometimes, because too much dependence on others for happiness is not healthy, which can undermine God’s instituted feelings of confidence and self respect, that is relevant to the will and purpose prescribed for your life.
When your self-image is too closely attached, to what other people estimate of you, fear of rejection becomes a threat to the wholeness of who you are. This causes stress and creates an arena of anxiety, caused by the effort of being accepted. Stop defining the core of your self and your future, by titles the world involves as successful, such as “married,” “popular,” “single,” etc. These worldly titles are false plum lines, that people busy themselves trying to become and attained, and are not, in God’s perspective, a true sense of success for identity. These false expectations can become a threat to your purpose and your abilities, and eventually suck the happiness right out of your created being.
To overcome rejection, you must allow God, through His Word, to define who you are, and to develop the true essence of your created being, in a way that is not contingent upon what others think of you. Begin to allow what God think of you, to become situated on the forefront of your thinking. Learn that you are different! You don’t think like others and others don’t think like you. Distinction is the key! Learn to comply and believe that your difference, in how you look, what you are capable of, your attitude and your beliefs of yourself, are the main ingredients that make up who you are, and that God is perfectly comfortable in who you are. And when HE is dissatisfied, he will become assertive to inform you of His desires for change. But atleast, your happiness will be in your control, and you will feel much more secure, with being YOU! Part 2…more to come!
Blessings,
Pastor Larry

Tomorrow
Love without condition and forgive as often as possible because tomorrow is never promise.
Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. ~James 4: 13-15~
